Joanna Michna was born in Ruda Slaska (Poland). Piano lessons since she was five years old. Certificate in musical teaching and high school certificate. Excellent diploma and master degree at the university of Katowice with Prof. A. Jasinski. Master studies at the university of music in Warsaw with Prof. J. Ekier and at the conservatoire of music in Moscow with Prof. V. Mierjanov.
Winner of many national and international contests, e.g. piano contest in Slupsk, Chopin piano contest in Warsaw, chamber music contest in Katowice, Chopin piano contest in Palma de Mallorca. Years of special promotion by the Ministry of Culture & Arts at Warsaw.
Participation in international festivals, e.g. Duszniki, Copenhagen, Marianske Lazne, Phyong-Yang. Concerts in many European, Asian and African countries. On stage with orchestras in Poland, the Czech Republic, Romania, Tunisia, Korea and Germany, e.g. with "Gewandhausorchester Leipzig", "Münchener Symphoniker", "Sinfonia Varsovia". Festival invitations to Marienbad, Stolp, Pjongjang, Bad Reinerz, Kopenhagen, Heidelberg and other. Regular chamber music concerts with singers and instrumentalists. Production of CDs, appearance in national and international radio and TV shows.
Piano virtuoso Joanna Michna has produced 20 CDs until now, containing piano works from different eras (from Mozart to Rachmaninov and Godovsky). Her new CD (CHOPIN - Complete Works for Piano and Orchestra - without Orchestra) with all works for piano and orchestra by Frederic Chopin in the version for solo piano is a world premiere.
Michna is elating critics by her "technical perfect performing", "brilliant virtuosity", "majestic and exciting sound", "her sensibility and poetry", and "her variety in interpretations".
In addition to her solo activities, she is playing chamber music and performing with various ensembles, istrumentalists and singers.
